Florida’s permanent population increased by more than 2.8 million (17.6%) to 18.8 million between 2000 and 2010, making it the third largest increase among the states of the union. This was one the findings of an analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data prepared by the Bureau of Economic and Business Research of the University of Florida.
The study projects an annual growth rate of 252,000 for the current decade, 255,000 the following decade, decreasing to 220,000 the decade after that. According to Stan Smith, the bureau’s director, Florida’s growth rate has decelerated due to the recession, but “as the economy recovers, population growth will increase as well.”
For the Tampa Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), which includes Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando Counties, the bureau has projected, from census data, various interesting and different growth rates, as follows:

TAMPA, Fla. (October 5, 2011) – MFS (Morris Flamingo Stephan), one of the leading beauty supplies distributor and manufacturer, has relocated its operations from Danville, IL to 90,000 SF in the 500 S. Falkenburg Rd. industrial facility, in Tampa. Ed Melo, President of Resource Realty Group, represented the tenant, and Jason Aprile, with the Ross Realty Group, Inc., represented the landlord.
“We thoroughly researched the local market until we found the facility meeting all of the requirements of MFS”, commented Ed Melo. MSF considered several other cities for relocation, and with our input, Tampa was selected. The functional and convenient 500 S Falkenburg facility should meet MSF’s needs for the near future, and the capable labor force and convenient transportation facilities available in our area will surely contribute to its continued success.
